14 young girls of'Muktinath Baba Ashram' at galphutar, kathmandu are learning sanskrit devoting their whole life in the aim of being scholars in sanskrit language and doing religious preachings. They are making a start to prove that even women can do religious preachings.
Muktinath Baba Aashram is also supporting the girls' views since 5 years."There is difference in physicality in between girls and boys but soul is same in both of them."said Ashram's co-ordinator Swami Kamalnayana Prapannacharya while mentioning about the aim of establishing their institution for encouraging women to do religious preachings."And for this sanskrit knowledge is must."said Prapannacharya.
The girls have the common aim of preserving their culture and spreading the awareness of the hindu religion even in this fast running world for modernisation. They arse heading for making Nepal's religious places known all over through their preachings. "We had planned to teach the girls under the age of ten but we have 14 girls from 8-20 years of age and they are doing good."replied the coordinator.
The ashram provides classes upto SLC.The students have to take exams from Triveni Ashram in Nawalparasi but before they had to take from Ayodhya,India.
Kamala Bajagain,a 20 year girl is involving herself in this institution since 4 years, after her SLC.She said,"i have strong belief in religion that's why i started learning sanskrit."Six girls like her have already got the opportunity to make religious preachings in public and others are on the way to make their dream comes true.Kamala is about to finish her Uttarmadhyama(equivalent to Intermidiate) from Balmaki Campus and has the aim to complete Acharya(equivalent to Bachelor degrees) where she need not pay for her studies.
All the girls want to have celibacy throughout their life.Sudha Sapkota of Magdi said,"One can't be devoted to god if s/he falls into domestic burden. S/he has greed for riches and materialistic things thandevoting for god.""Marrying is a materialistic act but we learn only about spirituality here."said Kamana, who came here 3 years ago, stopping her studies of grade 8.She added"I had strong desireto learn here due to my devotion towards gods and saints."
The girls learning here are vegetarians who neither touched onions or garlics since they consider these food as unfit according to the religion. They even don't eat food made outside."When we don't have our cook with us, we cook ourselves"said Sabina Nepal.Their day starts and ends with religious activities and again they do studies of sanskrit for7 hours in class too."Though the girls give more priority to sanskrit, they also give importance for english and are learning english so as to cope up with the modernisation." said Swami Kamalnayana Prapannachrya.
